Crankshaft & camshaft sensors in Astana
The crankshaft position sensor (CKP) tells the control unit the position and speed of the crankshaft — without its signal the ECU doesn't know when to fire the spark and inject fuel, and the engine usually won't start. It works in tandem with the camshaft position sensor (CMP, «phase sensor»), which the ECU uses to identify engine strokes and control variable valve timing. We select both sensors by VIN for your engine — original and proven aftermarket in stock in Astana.
Prices and availability depend on your car — select it and we'll show the matching Crankshaft sensors.

How CKP and CMP sensors work
The crankshaft sensor reads the teeth of a trigger wheel (on many engines with missing teeth as a reference mark) and is either inductive or Hall-effect. The camshaft sensor reads marks on the camshaft and is needed for sequential injection and variable valve timing. An inductive sensor produces an AC signal without external power, while a Hall sensor is digital and needs a supply, so they are not interchangeable.
Signs of failure
The starter cranks but the engine won't start; it stalls when hot and restarts after cooling; the tachometer is dead; jerking and misfires, faults for crankshaft signal or cam/crank correlation. A failing CMP more often shows up as hard starting and timing faults. There's no scheduled interval — before replacing, check the connector, wiring, air gap and the sensor tip, which collects metal dust.
How to choose
Sensors differ in type (inductive or Hall), connector, length and mounting — even on one model they depend on the engine and model year. Select by VIN: we show original and aftermarket from Bosch, Denso, Hella, Febi, Facet and Metzger. After replacement, fault codes are cleared with a scanner.

FAQ
Yes, it's one of the typical symptoms: without the crankshaft signal the ECU gives no spark or injection. Check the fault code and, if possible, the sensor signal with a scanner.
The CKP reports crankshaft position and speed, the CMP («phase sensor») reports camshaft position to identify strokes. They are separate parts with different numbers, selected by VIN.
One common cause is a crankshaft sensor with a damaged winding or hairline crack: the signal drops out when hot and returns once it cools. Wiring can behave the same way — diagnosis is needed.
